Not too long after Gail had passed away, I was having a hard time understand the why her and why now. That night I had a dream with her, and in the dream she looked at a group of our coworkers and said good night ladies and it wasn't what she said it was the SMILE that followed after that statement. Though time has passed, there are those moments that someone may call for her and my heart still stings and my eyes become watery. Maybe in time the sting will become less, although I don’t think it will ever go away. The reason for that is because Gail made an imprint on my heart and the memories of her will always remain there. Although I didn't know her a long time, her smile and her positivity is something that I will always cherish. So Gail you are missed more each day but we know that no matter where you are that you are always watching us! -Jayna

I randomly decided to check out 800poconos.com and see what the PMVB was up to since I moved a few years ago and came across this sad news about Gail. She was my very first boss in a professional sense and taught me so much about marketing, tourism, and being a true professional. I remember saying to Alicia once during my days at the PMVB that I didn't know what the PMVB would do without Gail. I still can't imagine. I know she'll be missed by so many. Gail, during my 4 or so years at the PMVB, you taught me organization, professionalism, "the system" of things, many many marketing and PR tactics and skills, and so much more. I was always impressed by your poise, confidence, and ability to keep yourself and your staff positive through tough times...and your ability to listen and understand. You were a great leader, a great mentor, a great lady, and the best boss I ever had. When I left I found this watch that I thought you would like, so I sent it to you as a thank you gift. You sent me a note that said that even though you don't really wear watches, you love this one and you were excited to wear it. I think you also liked that you could put it on and take it off easily for tennis :). That gave me a chuckle. I will always remember you and when I'm faced with a difficult moment, I'll always ask myself, "how would Gail handle this." Love, Melissa Dressely

Attending the next Ski the Pocono Meeting will not be the same without you, Gail...it will be very hard not seeing you there! Gail, you were always so patient and helpful to me when we started the RMI Funding. Infact, anytime I called you were always there to help. Wish you didn't have to leave us so soon!!!

Gail was the consummate professional and we all have and will continue to benefit from the "footprint" that she left on the

Gail you were a mentor to me when I was in college and worked under you for a summer intership. It was my first job in the industry, as I was studying hospitality management at ESU. Your guidance shines through in my career today and I want to Thank you for all you taught me!

Dear Gail: I attended the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, L.I. where your dad was an instructor for over 40 years. I brought you your first football corsage when you were 6 years old and took you and your sister Liz to an Academy football game. Your parents are god parents for my son Dan, they are the most loyal of Kings Point faculty and still work as volunteers for the Academy.
You were a beautiful person outside and you were an even more beautiful person inside. We'll miss you.

I worked very closely with Gail for several years at ABC-TV in the 1970's. She was a friend, mentor & highly professional. Personally Gail was as beautiful inside as she was out. Although many years have past since we have seen one another, I thought of her often & hoped she was happy. I feel an emptyness knowing I will not see her again. Gail used to pronounce her name "melon on skis".
Her passing is a great loss to so many of us. We love you Gail!

Gail was a great person and a real professional. I met her first in the early 90's and though I knew her as a classmate for only for a few months she left a lasting impression on me. We both remembered each other whenever our paths would cross though that only happened a few times over the past 15 years. She had a wonderful way about her and a beautiful smile, and was always a top notch professional in every aspect of her work. I will miss you Gail.

Gail was always such a consummate professional with such a zeal for her product. She wasn't one to waste time, she just got things done. I am lucky I had the opportunity to put together programs with Gail behind them. The Poconos and all of us that knew and had the opportunity to work with her will miss her greatly.

Adriane - I am sure that Gail is still carving her own turns, and thank you for your story. I'll think of her fondly when I am taking the wide turns down the slopes. She would have been proud of our wonderfully busy President's weekend - marketing efforts led by her and her team, producing the business for us all. Thank you Gail for believing so fiercely in the Pocono Mountains, and we will miss you as a colleague and a friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. God Bless and god speed Gail, as you set out on this last journey.

When someone is no longer here, I think you start to appreciate more the little things in others. Of the one who left, you remember the little things too, like the words of encouragement, words of praise, or just their words. You realize you will never hear or read them again. For 11 1/2 years, Gail's words were words I appreciated and now I am holding more dear than before because I will never hear or see them again: thanks, good job, I agree, looks great, thanks for taking care of this, regards, ok, sounds good, let me know when you have time to review, you should, old think/new think, lol…..the list goes on and on.

I agree with Linda about remembering someone's words once they're gone. I didn't get the chance to know Gail for nearly as long as others, but will remember her words nonetheless. Over the course of the last several months, I learned a great deal from working with Gail. She was the first person to give me the opportunity to test my marketing knowledge and had become my mentor. She was always willing to share her wisdom and help me broaden my skills. Although the time I had to know Gail was short, I am thankful for it.

I would like to share some kind words I received about Gail from Jenny Lamb of Brides magazine. Jenny told me that Gail "was such a warm & interesting woman – I really enjoyed the time I spent with her... I spent about an hour talking with her at our Christmas party and walked away thinking what great energy & enthusiasm she seemed to have for life." Thank you Jenny.

Gail was truly a terrific boss and fellow employee. She always had words of praise when I completed tough jobs. I was fortunate to share some personal time with Gail as well. Not only was she a great tennis player but she was an avid skier too. One time when we were skiing at Camelback Gail said to all of us lets go practice some big wide arch turns and let our skies run down the mountain which we all got in line and Gail lead us down the mountain all doing our big wide arch turns. It was ironic that I was skiing on Tuesday this week prior to learning of Gail's passing, there I was thinking about Gail on the mountain practicing those big wide arch turns. Wouldn't it be great to have a torch light parade in Gail's honor coming down the slopes at Camelback doing those big wide arch turns. It would be like she's still with us. I'm truly going to miss you Gail.

On behalf of myself, my family, and all members of the Shawnee community, I would like to profess the profound sadness and sense of loss we feel at this time. Gail was a tireless worker and true advocate of the Poconos. It was a privilege to know her and to be inspired by her. She was a wonderful woman and her memory will last and last. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time. Fondly, Jon Kirkwood

THE CHAMPION'S CREED: I AM NOT judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed. And the number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep trying! Gail had this and other sayings posted on her desk.
