I always enjoy a nice cup of tea as well as getting back to nature with a nice walk in the woods; so it was a cinch to make my plans for the upcoming weekend. On Saturday, August 13 from 10:00AM and 1:00PM the Monroe County Environmental Education Center will be hosting Wild Teas for Free with tea enthusiast and naturalist Don Miller.
If you're a tea drinker and would like to learn how to identify plants and wildflowers suitable to put in your teacup you will want to take advantage of this incredible, enjoyable and educational stroll through the Kettle Creek Wildlife Sanctuary.
I'm sure that you will agree that we all have become spoiled with a world full of convenient stores and supermarkets; not that this is a bad thing, but I really think that it would be fun to learn how to identify and hand pick wild plants and then home brew them into a flavorful aromatic pot of tea!
After wandering through Mother Nature's beauty and gathering a few of her precious bounties, Don will take us to a serene and shady spot to talk about the basics of plant guides and identification. I'm looking forward to sipping some delicious fresh iced mint tea while looking over the day's harvest. We may even be able to sample some fresh brewed teas from the day's plant gathering!
Make sure to dress in comfortable clothes and shoes. You may also want to bring your camera as I'm sure that you will be able to get some beautiful nature shots for your nature album.
The cost for this awesome experience is only $10.00 or $7.50 if you are a member of the Center. Pre-registration is required by Friday, August12 by calling 570-629-3061.
As always, I would like to hear from you and all about your plans for a fabulous weekend in the Pocono Mountains! I hope to see you at Kettle Creek Wildlife Sanctuary and Wild Teas For Free!
