Each trip is led by professional river guides, experts who will be there if you need them.  A full river running briefing starts your day, familiarizing you and your group with the ways of the river.  You will challenge the rapids, mild water, fast water, and touch of Class III whitewater.  This section of the Lehigh is simply perfect for beginners, ages 4 to 84, school groups, reunions, you name it!  Rates are $38.95 per person, $28.95 for children ages 4-14, $33.95 for adult group ages 15 and older, and $28.95 for youth groups ages 15 and older.

Scranton Limited Short Train Ride

The Scranton Limited Short Train Ride is a three mile round trip, which lasts about 30 minutes.  The train ride will be offered on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.  We will also operate this ride on Mondays and Tuesdays (with a diesel locomotive) in July and August 2008 only; the rides will not operate on Mondays and Tuesdays during the rest of the 2008 season.  Tickets to ride this train cost $3 per person, all ages 6 and older.

Have you always wanted to try your hand at acting?  Are you an aspiring actor?  Do you want to try something new?  In this course you will experience the "Meisner Method of Acting."  Sanford Meisner, a founding member of the Group Theatre, which brought method acting to America, developed this method.  Meisner, one of the most famous and well respected acting instructors of the 20th century, defined acting as "living truthfully under imaginary circumstances."  Join us to do the work, have fun, build confidence, and discover yourself.  Tuition for is $150/members and $170/non-members.  Classes held on Mondays from 6-9pm.

Calligraphy is the art of beautiful handwriting.  Students will learn how to use specially designed calligraphy pens to turn their handwriting into beautiful cursive, italic writing that can be used everyday on cards, envelopes, letters, and notes.  Using felt-tipped markers makes calligraphy possible for both left and right-handed students.  Classes will be held on Mondays from 10am to noon.  No class on May 26.  Tuition is $70/members and $90/non-members.

Allen's painting canvas is not canvas at all.  He actually paints on feather!  A nature and wildlife artist from Lake Ariel, PA.  Allen paints wildlife and landscapes on the unusual medium of tail feathers of wild turkey and grouse!  The Kettle Creek Art Gallery displays artwork with natural themes by local artists and art groups.  Each artist displays for two months.  These receptions are free and open to the public from 7-9pm.

This course is designed to teach the amateur photographer to improve their skills.  Both camera and film will be provided.  Each week the previous week's photographs will be presented and critiqued to improve skills taught in class.  Students will learn the functions and limitations of the camera and studio lighting as well as posing and composition for one to five subjects.  Students will add a variety of props to their composition.  Lighting techniques will be used to create different moods.  Upon completion of the course the students will have their photographs as a reference.

Interested in a full weekend of bird watching?  Then come out for PEEC's Warbler Weekend I.  A multitude of Warblers visit the Pocono Mountains every spring as they migrate to their summer homes.  These colorful birds are a popular draw for many birders.  Guided walks with experienced filed leaders will emphasize identification by sight, sound, and habitat.  Evening programs compliment day excursions.  Sightings of over 25 species of warblers and 100 total species are possible.  The cost for the weekend program is $150/members and $160/non-members and includes all meals and lodging in PEEC cabins.  Non-lodging rates are also available at $90/members and $100/non-members and include all meals and activities.  Pre-registration is required.
