GREGORY W. MOYER MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

Route 209, Bushkill, Pennsylvania 18324
Town: Bushkill

Proceeds benefit the Gregory W. Moyer Defibrillator Fund. Gregory was a 15 year-old boy playing basketball on December 2, 2000. Two minutes after walking off the court at half-time, he collapsed in the locker room from cardiac arrest caused by hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He died that night. He was playing in a brand new, multi-million-dollar school that didn’t have a defibrillator. Thus, the Gregory W. Moyer Defibrillator Fund was started to raise money to donate AEDs to the five high schools in Monroe County. By the time of Greg’s funeral, enough money had been donated to purchase seven AEDs. As news of his death reached more and more people, the scope of the fund needed to expand to better meet the needs of others striving to initiate AED programs. The Fund has since helped to enact legislation for the placement of AEDs in schools in 15 states, trained over 10,000 people in CPR / AED use, and donated over 1,000 AEDs. The Fernwood Golf Course has offered to host this fundraising event. Please come support the efforts of the Fund to help save the lives of kids like Greg.
