Annual COTA Jazz and Arts Festival

An intimate community jazz festival, featuring world-class musicians, regional talent and emerging artists.  Bring blankets or lawn chairs.  Craft and food vendors on site.  The festival kicks off on Friday, from 7-9:30pm; Saturday noon-9pm and Sunday 12:30-8:30pm.  A Jazz Mass will be held Sunday morning at 10am, no admission fee.  Festival tickets are $20/per day; $30/two-day; $10/children 5-12 and $10/seniors and students. 
Special Steam Excursion to Tunkhannock Viaduct

Steamtown National Historic Site, downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania is pleased to announce that the Canadian Pacific Railroad will allow a special steam passenger train excursion from the Historic Site to the famed Tunkhannock Viaduct at Nicholson, Pennsylvania on Saturday, September 6.  The trip will depart the Steamtown NHS Boarding Platform at 1pm for a planned arrival and stop on the famed bridge from 2-2:15 pm. The train will stop again briefly on the viaduct at 3pm for a scheduled Scranton arrival at 4pm.  Ticket prices for the Tunkhannock Viaduct excursion are $41/adults 17 to 61, $36/seniors 62 and older and $30/children age 6-16. Children 5 and younger require a "no-charge" ticket; all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  A limited number of premium fare tickets are available for passengers to ride in the luxurious Lehigh Valley #353 business car for $200 per person for all ages. Light snacks will be served.

Group fishing package includes: three hours of shore fishing from one of the highly regarded fishing hot spots, rental equipment, a well maintained medium action rod and reel, a tackle box stuffed with terminal tackle and live bait.  Having the right kind of tackle and rod and reel will help provide a trouble free pleasurable experience.  A highly experienced angler will be with the group the whole time for instructional help as needed.  Minimum of 6-12 people for group rate; cost is $30 for each angler.  Fishing license required; reservations required in advance.

Want to try your luck fishing for native fish?  Get started with Pecks Pond.  Package includes: 1/2 hour of learning the basic concept of casting and bating your fishing rig, 2 1/2 hour of pure fishing and boating fun with one of the angler experts, all fishing equipment and bait (lures are extra cost).  If you don't feel like fishing, take a scenic tour around the lake; the experienced staff will take you to the best spots to view wildlife and waterfowl.  Cost is $139 for a pair of anglers.  Reservations are required, so please call ahead.  Available midweek only.

Each trip is led by professional river guides, experts who will be there if you need them.  A full river running briefing starts your day, familiarizing you and your group with the ways of the river.  You will challenge the rapids, mild water, fast water and touch of Class III whitewater.  This section of the Lehigh is simply perfect for beginners, ages 4 to 84, school groups, reunions, you name it!  One of the most unique things about this trip is our free riverside barbecue, which is available daily June 7 through September 1 and weekends in September. Scranton Limited Short Train Ride

The Scranton Limited Short Train Ride is a three mile round trip, which lasts about 30 minutes.  The train ride will be offered on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.  We will also operate this ride on Mondays and Tuesdays (with a diesel locomotive) in July and August 2008 only; the rides will not operate on Mondays and Tuesdays during the rest of the 2008 season.  Tickets to ride this train cost $3 per person, all ages 6 and older.
