Each season the Poconos lives up to its promise... the spring is fresh, lively and green; the summer fragrant, warm and inviting; the fall plentiful, colorful and sweet; and the winter pure, silent and majestic. Festivals, activities, indoor and outdoor life never slow.
Hundreds of events and activities take place in the Pocono Mountains each year. Music or ethnic festivals, holiday celebrations, sidewalk sales, whitewater rafting days and NASCAR are some of the exciting events that make the Poconos so popular.

Cure your cabin fever on a safari adventure. Come check out the amazing ice displays, such as elephants and giraffes, all sculpted from over 100 tons of ice. There will also be ongoing live ice caring shows and professional ice competitions on February 11-12 and 25-26. Guests can enjoy free hot chocolate and wine tasting with admission. Tickets are $10/adults, $6/children ages 3-15, and children under 3 are free. The festival will be held from 11am-6pm, Monday-Saturday and 11am-4pm on Sunday.
Bargain Day Package includes an all day lift ticket, lesson, and rental. The cost is $35 per person. The lift tickets are valid from noon-6pm. Bargain Day Wednesday will continue through March, 2012.
Come out to the Promised Land State Park Office to borrow the Park's snowshoes! Throughout the winter, a limited number of MSR-Denali snowshoes are available for use through a Snowshoe Loaner Program at the Park. Staff is available to give brief instructions and additional information. Make sure to wear hiking boots, dress in layers, and bring plenty of water. This program is designed for day-use only. After December 12, the Park Office is only open Monday through Friday. Snowshoes cannot be loaned out during the weekends. A valid driver's license must be provided in order to borrow snowshoes. Snowshoes must remain in the park and are only available when there is at least six inches of snow cover. Please contact the Park Office to check snow conditions and equipment availability. Snowshoes must be used at the Park and/or in the Delaware State Forest between the hours of 8am and 3pm.
When Mother Nature finally blesses us with a nice cover of white in the woodlands, come and celebrate by going snowshoeing at a special rate. Bring the family to Alpine Mountain for great rates. For one low price you will receive a lift ticket, lesson, and rental as well as a $7.50 voucher for the concession stand. Friday Night Family Nights take place every non-holiday Friday at Alpine. Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased at the mountain; lessons are scheduled for 6pm. Friday Night Family Nights will continue through March, 2012.
Animals leave behind clues that give us glimpses into their lives. Explore natural areas for signs of wildlife. The cost is $5/non-members, free/members. The program will be held from 10am-noon. Pre-registration is required.
The Commander's special blend of old-time rock ‘n' roll, redneck country, boogie woogie, and swing has virtually defined American roots music. Professor Louie and the Crowmatix are 2010 Grammy Nominees and 2011 Canada South Blues Hall of Fame Inductees. Tickets are $23 per person. Doors open at 7pm; the show will begin at 8pm.
Beginner lessons provide a chance to enjoy the winter woods. No snow? Visit for a free winter hike. Skis and boots provided - register with your shoe size to guarantee a spot. The cost is $20/adult, $10/child. Cross-country skiing will be held from 9-11am on Satudays and 1-3pm on Sundays. Pre-registration is required.
Take a trip north in search of eagles. A stop will be made at the Eagle Institute; look for eagles soaring, feeding, and nest guarding. Bring a lunch and dress in warm layers. The cost is $25 per person. The program will be held from 9am-3pm. Call by January 28, 2012 to reserve a seat in the van. Pre-registration is required.
Penn's Peak is proud to announce Edgar Winter and Rick Derringer. Edgar's music covers many different genres and even the unexpected. He is constantly evolving and his live shows still receive rave reviews. Rick has been producing hits for over four decades. His career includes number one songs, appearing on numerous albums with a huge spectrum of artists, and much more. Don't miss this classic pairing. General admission seating tickets are $27/advance; $32/day of the show. Doors open at 6pm and the show will begin at 8pm.
Natural themed paintings will be featured in this eclectic collection from the best of the best of this group of talented watercolor artists. Your eyeswill sparkle at the variety of styles and composition. From fine to rustic, you'll enjoy the different techniques. The exhibit will be on display from February 4 through the 29. An opening reception will be held on February 4 from 11am-1pm. The public is invited to the reception to view the paintings, meet the watercolorists and enjoy some refreshments; all free of charge.
Don't let the winter weather get you down! Bring the whole family out to the Monroe County Environmental Education Center for an exciting morning of "Environmental Bingo". All program participants get a bingo card and parents may play alone or help a younger child. The cost is $5/non-member, $3/EE member and children under 12. The first Family Fun Day at the EE Center will begin at 10am. Prizes will be awarded in each game; pre-registration is required.

Go to Alpine Mountain on Saturday nights for snow tubing. When you purchase one pass for Saturday night (6-9pm) snow tubing, you receive one free. Offer is valid all non-holiday Saturdays.
Scouts and their families are invited to ski/board/tube at Alpine Mountain on these weekends for fantastic discounted rates. Call to reserve your discounted tickets ahead of time. Scout Weekends will also be held March 3-4, 2012.
In this wonderfully written full length comedic winner of the 2011 Shawnee One Act Winner Series, Stuart has lost his very purpose in life, but a knock on the door may propel him into a new reality of flying horses, southern cooking, and best of all, love. Tickets are $18/adults, $15/seniors, and $10/children. The show will begin at 2pm on Friday, February 10 and Sunday, February 5 and 12; 8pm on Saturday, February 4 and 11.
Visit Hickory Run State Park in the Sand Spring Day Use Area for some fun. Enjoy a variety of winter activities including snowshoeing, children's games, and a sled dog team. You will also get the chance to learn about orienteering from a member of the Delaware Valley Orienteering Association (DVOA), find out what disc golf is from area club members, and check out ice fishing and ice safety demonstrations from the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. WinterFest will be held from 11am-3pm. Activities may be modified due to weather conditions.
Join Volunteers from the Northeast PA Audubon Society and the Nordic Ski Patrol to get out in the snow. Brief instruction in snowshoeing will be available. Limited number of snowshoes will be provided if you do not have your own. If snow cover is insufficient, plan on hiking instead. Bring plenty of water, good boots, and gloves. Meet at the Tannery Road access in Varden. The hike if free of charge and will be held from 10am-noon. Pre-registration is necessary by calling Pete.

Environmental Educator Brian Hardiman will lead this popular field trip to the Upper Delaware River in search of the spectacular bald eagle. This scenic region offers a beautiful backdrop and excellent opportunities for observing eagles. Come along for this fun and educational outing and learn about the recovery of the bald eagle and other aspects of its life history. The cost is $20/non-member; $14/EE member, and includes van transportation. Meet at MCEEC at 8:30am and return approximately 5:30pm. Pre-registration and payment are required and limited.
