There truly is something for the entire family during these fall foliage weekends. Train rides, vendors, crafters, goodies from the Jim Thorpe Farmers Market, bike rentals and rides in the surrounding hills or along the Lehigh River on the rail-trail, free entertainment at different venues throughout the downtown, and seasonal specials from restaurants and shops. This event will also take places on October 10-11 and 17-18.

Kids, start your engines... er, wait a minute... engines are not allowed. Start cranking and getting ready for the 5th Annual Last Fling Pumpkin Sling at the Pocono Raceway. Enjoy pumpkin sling competition, vertical ventures jump unit, craft, food, hot air balloon tethered rides, hay rides, and much more. Spectators and participants should always watch for flying pumpkins, and enter or participate at own risk. No pets or alcohol allowed on the property. The hurricane/snow date is October 17 and 18.

QUIET VALLEY'S HARVEST FESTIVAL

Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm celebrates their 41st Annual Harvest Festival. There will be plenty of traditional skills and heritage crafts demonstrated such as spinning, weaving, yarn dyeing, black smithing, broom making, scrapple making, apple butter making, and much more. Enjoy plenty of folk entertainment, good country food, children's activities, pumpkin decorating, a quilt raffle, pony rides, horse-drawn wagon rides, one room schoolhouse presentation, outdoor brick bake oven, and much more. The Civil War Encampment is always a favorite at Harvest Festival. The 142nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Co. G Re-enactors will portray the drill and everyday life of soldiers in the 19th century, giving visitors a glimpse into local history. The festival will be held rain or shine. Demonstrations are under tents. No pets and no smoking please. The Harvest Festival schedule is subject to change.
